Chemical Drainage Design Guide

Introduction
Chemical drainage systems handle corrosive, toxic, or special waste from laboratories, industrial facilities, and healthcare settings. These systems require chemical-resistant piping materials, possible neutralization treatment, and separate routing from sanitary drainage. Plumbing Booster's Drainage System module includes a dedicated Chemical Drainage configuration page.
Methodology
1. **Identify chemical waste sources** - Sinks, cup sinks, floor drains, and equipment in labs and industrial areas.
2. **Select piping material** - Chemical-resistant materials: borosilicate glass, PVDF, CPVC Schedule 80, polypropylene, or stainless steel depending on chemicals present.
3. **Size pipes** - Using DFU values for chemical fixtures, following the selected plumbing code's sizing tables.
4. **Consider neutralization** - Acid waste may require neutralization tanks before discharge to sanitary sewer.
5. **Separate routing** - Chemical waste piping should be routed separately from sanitary drainage where required by code.
6. **Vent requirements** - Chemical vent systems may require separate venting with acid-resistant materials.
