Engineering Methodology
WSFU Conversion
Water Supply Fixture Units (WSFU) are converted to flow rates (GPM or L/s) using official code tables. The software automatically selects the correct conversion based on the chosen plumbing code and system type (flush tank vs flushometer). For example, IPC Table E103.3(3) provides demand vs. fixture unit relationships for both flush tank and flushometer systems, covering up to 5000 WSFU with interpolation for intermediate values.
Pipe Sizing Methods
- IPC Table Method (E104.1): Uses official IPC pipe sizing tables with material-specific inner diameter calculation, velocity compliance checking (4-8 ft/s), and water meter sizing per Table E104.1
- UPC Table Method: Uses UPC fixture unit and pipe sizing tables for drainage and water supply
